Abstract:
Online Synchronous tools (OST) of communication plays very important role in online education. OSTs help to make online learning more live and real. It cross all geographical boundaries and bring instructor and learners closer. The purpose of the study was development of evaluation tool which can help in finding suitable OST for online course.
Objectives of the research were:
It was quantitative type of research. Researcher used developed evaluation tools
(viz. Checklist and Rating scale) to evaluate 5 Online Synchronous Communication Tools.
The results of the study show that both the evaluation tools can help in evaluating Online Synchronous Communications tools. Webx and Skype were rated the best in online learning by the Checklist. And from Rating scale it was found that each criterion can be rated as 'Best', 'Good', 'Average', or 'Poor' according to quality or facilities provided by each Online Synchronous Communication Tools. These evaluation tools can also work as a guideline to improve features of Online Synchronous Communication Tools.
