Abstract:
With the increased popularity of the internet, online education and distance learning have become more popular and mainstream. Internet allows us to experiment with new technologies. Due to advance technologies learning has become interesting. The online courses allow the students to work with course materials at their own convenience or collaboratively on projects using tools like chat and discussion groups (bulletin boards). Such tools are convenient to use and are effective in teaching learning process. Large blocks of text online can limit the potential to make learning a dynamic process. In such situation e-boards can be one of the effective tools. Eric Adams and Chris Freeman (2003) say Message boards are an effective tool for supporting learning.
Objective of the research were:
- To prepare an instructional material to teach a topic through e-board.
- To study the effectiveness of ‘e-board in learning’ in higher education.
- To study the opinion about e-boards in learning.
- To evaluate interaction of participants with e-boards.
The study was based on the pre-experimental research and the sample was 16 female students of SEM II of METCA. This study examined the effectiveness of e-boards in teaching learning process. The independent variable was e-board. Pre-test was conducted to see the prior knowledge of the participants about the topic. Then researcher started the treatment, a topic was taught through the e-board. Then post-test was conducted on the same topic. The topic then decided was Component Display Theory (CDT). The research showed that if e-board is used as a supportive tool in online learning it will help to increase the achievement of the learners. A comparative study also could be conducted so that one can compare the effectiveness of both the tools.
