Abstract:
Nowadays there are many online learning courses offered by various institutes and universities. It’s challenging to make online learning content interactive and interesting thus, this study was an attempt to make online content motivating and interesting to the learners.

Objectives of the research were:

  • To determine the effectiveness of Subject Sampler as a strategy in an online environment.

In this study pre experimental design was used, which considered a single group pre-test and post-test design. This study was conducted on online learners of Department of Educational Technology. Succeeding this experiment, it was found that 70% of the participants scored more than 80% in post-test. Overall the participants rated this strategy as ‘Good’. This proved that Subject Sampler as a strategy can be used as a support to the content in an online environment. The main purpose of using Sampler was to connect learners to the content. This strategy helped learners to apply the content and were able to relate it to their own experience. This study was conducted on one batch of online learners of Department of Educational Technology and was limited to one topic, so it can be conducted on large sample groups for teaching other topics. The study was conducted on adult learners and can also take place on different age groups. Overall it was observed that learners were motivated to learn since they had to apply their learning’s in to real life situation. This study was planned to use Subject Sampler as a strategy to connect learners emotionally to the content encouraging them to learn. Thus, Subject Sampler as a strategy proved effective as a support in an online environment.
