Abstract:
In previous century traditional conceptions of teaching emphasized direct
instruction from the professional teacher to the learner. However in
recent years there is a vast increase in both the quantity and accessibility
of the information within and without the schools. PAL is presented as
a dynamic robust, effective and flexible approach to teaching and learning,
which can be used in different settings i.e. it is not limited to face
to face sessions but can also be used in online courses.
Students learn more from the environment in which they live rather than
just teacher and textbooks. Also students know and feel that they will
learn more if they share the knowledge which they have. Students are
comfortable in sharing and asking queries with their friends rather with
their teachers. In such
a scenario PAL is gaining importance among students and therefore there is a
need for the research to be carried out in the educational institutions.
Objectives of the research were:
It was an experimental research where two groups, pre test post test design
was selected. The research was conducted on 25 students of MET CA sem II
where 13 students were in experimental group and 12 students were in control
group.
It was found after analyzing the data that there was no much difference in
the achievement test scores of students as the but the strategy is effective
enough to be used in classroom. It was observed that the students retain
information for longer time compared to usual lecture method. It can be concluded
that PAL allow learners to interact with their peers in a positive way. There
was no hesitation between the PAL leaders and students. Interaction between
the students also increased helping nature of students was observed.
