Abstract:
Collaborative concept mapping engages two or more learners in co-coordinated and sustained efforts in the creation of concept maps in order to learn and construct knowledge. It is a very potential strategy which helps fostering meaningful learning and group knowledge construction. It helps in building of common ground among learners. The research was conducted to examine the effectiveness of collaborative concept mapping strategy in online learning environment.
Objectives of the research were:
-
To plan Instructional sessions to teach through collaborative concept-mapping strategy
-
To test the effectiveness of collaborative concept mapping activities.
-
To determine the opinions of students about collaborative concept-mapping strategy in online environment.
Research proved that learning through collaborative concept-mapping is effective in terms of achievement since significant difference was observed in the pre-test and post test scores.
To fulfill the above objectives the researcher selected experimental method and used. Since the researcher wanted to study the impact of use of Collaborative concept mapping tool “Webspiration” as a learning tool for the students of MET CA , pre-experimental design was used in which single group pretest and post test design was used. In this design a single group was selected and a pretest was given. The pretest was used to measure the current knowledge of the participants for the course. After pretest the treatment was administers and at the end post test was taken to see the effectiveness of the treatment.
